India’s Most-Wanted Gangsters Nabbed in U.S., To Be Deported
In a major breakthrough for Indian law enforcement, two of the country’s most-wanted gangsters have been arrested in the United States and are set to be deported to India. The arrests are part of a joint operation between Indian and U.S. agencies aimed at tackling cross-border organized crime. One of the arrested gangsters, identified as Lakhwinder “Lakka” Singh, is a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Singh had been hiding in the U.S. for several years and was wanted in India for multiple serious offenses, including extortion, attempted murder, and illegal arms trade. He was apprehended by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) earlier this year and deported to India, where he was immediately taken into custody upon arrival in Delhi.
The second gangster, also considered a high-value target by Indian agencies, was captured in a coordinated effort between the U.S. Homeland Security Department, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Interpol. Both individuals are expected to face trial under various charges linked to organized criminal activities and their connections with syndicates operating both within and outside India. Officials have described the arrests as a significant achievement in India’s efforts to bring fugitives to justice and disrupt global criminal networks. The collaboration between the CBI and U.S. authorities demonstrates growing international cooperation against transnational crime. According to investigators, more fugitives on India’s wanted list are currently under surveillance abroad, and further actions are being planned to ensure their return.
