Vice President Vance in Israel for Talks on Gaza Peace Deal
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance visited Israel on Tuesday to help strengthen the fragile Gaza ceasefire that has recently come under strain. His visit comes as small clashes and reports of violations have raised fears that the truce between Israel and Hamas could collapse. The United States is working closely with Egypt and Qatar to keep both sides committed to the peace deal and to ensure humanitarian aid continues to reach civilians in Gaza.
During meetings with Israeli leaders, Vance stressed the need for calm and urged both sides to stick to the agreement made earlier this month. The current truce includes steps such as ending major fighting, releasing hostages, and allowing food and medical supplies into Gaza. However, tensions remain high, and both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of breaking parts of the deal.
The U.S. is pushing for the next phase of talks, which could include discussions on rebuilding Gaza and forming a local government not controlled by Hamas. Israel has said that reconstruction will only start once Hamas begins to disarm. American officials hope that continued diplomacy will prevent another round of violence and open the door to longer-lasting peace in the region.
